Perception and Commitment to Participate in Green Tourism of The Local Community: A Case Study of Thuy Bieu, Hue
Abstract:
Green tourism is considered an important approach to promoting sustainable tourism development and reducing negative impacts on the environment and local communities. This study examines the impact of local residents’ perceptions on their commitment to participating in green tourism activities. A quantitative method was employed, and 110 survey responses were collected from residents in Thuy Bieu, Hue City. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach to test the research hypotheses. The results show that environmental and economic benefits have positive effects on local residents’ perceptions of green tourism, while cultural benefits do not show a significant impact. In addition, residents’ perceptions strongly influence their commitment to participating in green tourism. The findings provide practical implications for encouraging greater community participation in the development of green tourism.
