Vietnam’s labor productivity: Comparison with Asean’s countries
Abstract:
The article uses secondary data, which is collected from agency such as ILO, UNESCO, General Statictics Office of Viet Nam to analyze the current state of labor productivity in Viet Nam. The research result show that in the period 2015-2021, Vietnam’s labor productivity will increase significantly and reach an average increase of 7,59%/year, In which the labor productivity of the construction sector and the state-funded sector has the highest level. Compared to other ASEAN’s countries, Vietnam’s labor productivity is ranked 6th. Vietnam’s labor productivity is still quite low and has a wide gap compared to some countries in the region. In addition, the article analyzes some of the reasons why Vietnam’s labor productivity is lower than other ASEAN’s countries. On that basis, the article proposes some recommendations to contribute to increasing Vietnam’s labor productivity in the near future.
