The External Impacts on Students’ Superficial Learning Orientation and Perceived Academic Performance of Undergraduates
Abstract:
Academic stress is an important factor affecting students' academic performance, but the extent of the impact of stress sources remains unclear. This study assessed the influence of personal and environmental stress on academic stress and examined the mediating role of academic stress on performance perception and learning orientation. The study from 251 data collected from university students and found that academic environmental stress had a strong impact on academic stress while family stress, peer pressure, and financial stress had no significant effects. In addition, the study also found that academic stress would increase negative perceptions of academic performance, and students' perfunctorily learning orientation. This finding highlights the importance of learning environment in stress management, along with practical contributions to education and education marketing.
