Impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Vietnamese labor market
Abstract:
The Covid-19 pandemic has negatively affected lots of aspects of ours lives. Since the fourth outbreak in April 2021, the Vietnamese labor market marked unprecedented records: the unemployment rate increased nearly double, the average income declined by nearly 1/3 from the second-quarter to the third-quarter of 2021 (GSO, 2021). A lot of people have must sharply cut their spendings, even just ensured to maintain their minimum standard of living. Most of vulnerable such as women, immigrants, and other marginalized groups... have been more negatively affected than others, thus, these consequences of the pandemic might cause potential inequality. This paper aims to analyze the current situation of the Vietnamese labor market in three aspects: employment and social life of employees, then propose recommendations to solve these problems mentioned above.
